The Elevator Didn’t Stop On His Floor

Mark stood there, unable to move, staring at himself sitting on the couch like nothing was wrong. The other him looked calm, almost expecting him. “You shouldn’t be here yet,” he said casually. Mark’s mind was racing. “What is this?” he asked. The other him sighed and turned off the TV. “This is where you end up if you keep going the way you are.” Mark felt a chill run through him. Before he could ask anything else, everything started shaking. The lights flickered. The room faded. Suddenly he was back in the elevator, doors opening on the 6th floor like nothing happened. But when he walked into his real apartment… something was different. The TV was already on. And the couch… was still warm.
